Bucharest Philharmonic Returns

One of the best-loved cultural institutions in Bucharest, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, returns this month to kick off its 2011/2012 season. The opening concert will take place on October 6 2011.

Founded in 1968, the Philharmonic has been the most active and visible musical institution in Romania. The orchestra is named after George Enescu (1881-1955), the country's most revered musical figure, composer, musician, conductor, and educator.

The iconic Romanian Atheneum concert hall will host the opening concert, which will see the George Enescu Romanian Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Camil Marinescu, perform the Gustav Mahler's Ninth Symphony. Stop by the official website for full details!
