Romanian Boxer Retains Title in Bucharest

 

Romanian-born boxer Lucian Bute has emerged victorious from a match against Frenchman Jean Paul Mendy in Bucharest. By winning this particular fight, Bute has managed to retain his world championship IBF super middleweight title.

The match took place at Bucharest’s Romexpo to an audience of roughly 10 000 people. It was also extremely well funded and promoted, with Romania’s Tourism Ministry taking the chance to promote the country’s brand via European funding.

Lucian Bute was born in Romania though currently lives and trains in Montreal, Canada. His professional record is 29 wins (24 KOs), 0 losses, and 0 draws.
