No Tax for Romanian Witches

The Romania government has dropped plans to tax the country's many practicing witches and fortune tellers as the proposed law was rejected in the Senate. Had it gone through, Romanian witches and fortune tellers would have had to produce receipts and would have been held liable for inaccurate predictions.

Hiking taxes has been a large part of the government's economic plan in recent times, as the country has been suffering from severe economic troubles. Recently, sales taxes were raised from 19 to 24 per cent.

So why didn't the witch tax go through? Alin Popoviciu of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party who proposed the new law, says that the senate simply fear being cursed.
