Bucharest's footing as Romania's over-populated capital makes it a fair assumption that there's something happening in this city at all times. With a non-stop playbill of theatre productions, parties, exhibitions, concerts, film showings and other shindigs, you should have little trouble finding something worth sinking your teeth into. Unfortunately, Bucharest lacks a weekly English language events guide. However, there are several similar publications in Romanian, and if you've half your wits intact, you should be able to suss out a sense of what's happening where, at what time and for how much: Timeout's monthly guide to Bucharest would be a worthy investment if it weren't expensive and only in Romanian, but visitors to Buch should have no trouble picking up a free copy of the city's two free events guides, 24-FUN and Sapteseri, both of which come out on Fridays.

As far as major festivals, Bucharest has been hard at work since quashing communism to establish a retinue of quality annual events. Though none have vaulted into international renown, Bucharest still has a few aces up its sleeve, particularly the biennial George Enescu International Festival (Sept/Oct) of class classical music and the city's annual narcissistic celebrations during the 'Month of Bucharest' (May/June).

To discover what's going on in the coming months click on the links above for a browse. We do our gosh darndest to keep things as up to date as inhumanly possible, but human is what we are, sadly. Still, you'll find here all the major events happening each month in Bucharest, as well as one or two special recommendations that we think you'll like. If you have an event you think we, as Bucharestian cultural purveyors, should know about, simply email us the info. All in all there's no excuse for staying at home!
