Peasant Museum

|
Generally lauded as Bucharest's best museum, the Museum of the Romanian Peasant expounds upon the theme of the Village Museum, displaying objects from all aspects of folk life, often in a playful manner. The collection includes peasant clothing and weavings, ceramics, painted eggs, handmade tools and more religious iconography than we can stand to look at. Located in a fine brick building near the Piata Victoriei metro stop, the museum formerly honoured the Communist Party and Romanian Revolutionary Workers Movement, so it's fitting that there is a display of communist iconography in the basement today (though it's a rather paltry exhibition). Adults 6 lei, students 2 lei. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00. |
